Before and after graduate school, I ran creative literacy programs for kindergarten and first graders.  The goal was to honor different learning styles through use of the arts.  Children used art making, music making, movement and tactile exercises to integrate literacy skills.   Associated benefits were improved self-esteem and decreased incidents of acting-out behaviors.

On the other end of the age spectrum, I have worked in long-term nursing facilities in both a nursing capacity and as an art therapist.  I used art making to process the inevitable occurrences of grief, and loss, and to build a sense of community within the institution.

For the past few years, I have been working with adults in crisis, practicing short-term art-based psychotherapy.

My practice relies heavily on the relationships of art material, color, and symbolism to the human psyche.  I employ these tools to ease psychological tension in a comfortable and supportive environment.
